Trained at The Institute of Culinary Education in New York City, Becka Brown has worn many hats in the culinary world. She learned life on the line at Daniel Boulud’s DBGB Kitchen & Bar in New York City, apprenticed with the CEO of Boloco to open a new location of his multi-unit burrito restaurant while at Dartmouth College, and later planned large-scale wine and food events at The Wine and Food Foundation of Texas in Austin. While there, she also taught cooking classes at the flagship Austin location of Whole Foods Market. Now living full-time in Dallas, Becka teaches cooking classes at Sur La Table and has started Plate & Platter as a way to bring chef-prepared inspiration into your home through personalized weekly meals, dinner parties, and cooking classes.
In her free time, she loves eating at new restaurants, traveling the world in search of culinary adventures, and connecting with friends or family over a great meal, usually with a glass of wine. Becka supports the local food community in Dallas by shopping regularly at the Dallas Farmers Market, helping families learn to cook healthy meals with Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters and volunteering at the Paul Quinn College We Over Me Organic Farm. She is ServSafe certified and insured as a member of the US Personal Chefs Association and is an accredited Wine Sommelier through the International Wine Guild.
